POST SECONDARY SCHOLARSHIP

Who is Eligible?

A Competitive Diver, competing at the national level or higher, or a diving coach, NCCP Level II Certified pursuing a Level III, is eligible to apply for the scholarship. The diver/coach must be registered with Sask Diving and the Canadian Amateur Diving Association (CADA). The diver/coach must reside and be enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution in Saskatchewan leading to a degree, diploma, or certificate.

In order for an application to be considered, the diver/coach must be a member in good standing with Sask Diving and CADA for a minimum of the previous diving year (October 1st to September 30th) prior to applying.

Application Procedure.

The application must be in the form of a letter including an overview of the applicant’s involvement in the sport of diving. The letter must also indicate the applicant’s objectives regarding both diving and intended courses of study. The application must be accompanied by proof of registration with Sask Diving and CADA.

Applications must be received at the office of Saskatchewan Diving/Plongeon, 1870 Lorne Street, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4P 2L7 no later than September 30th, 2002 for the upcoming school year. No exceptions will be made for receipt of late applications.

Incomplete applications may be rejected.

No confirmation of receipt of application will be sent.

Selection Procedure

The total amount of the yearly scholarship is $2,000.00 with the total being evenly split between the northern and southern parts of the province.

The monies may be divided among a number of applicants at the discretion of the selection committee.

No less than ($500.00) will be awarded to each successful applicant.

Scholarship Award

Successful applicants will be notified no later than October 15th, 2002, and awarded their scholarship upon receipt of proof of enrolment and registration with Sask Diving and CADA for the upcoming diving season.

The names of successful applicants will be printed in the next edition of the Sask Diving Newsletter.

Administration

The Scholarship Selection Committee will be appointed by the Sask Diving Board of Directors (suggested membership – VP South, VP North, Technical Chairperson). In the event of a conflict of interest, alternate member(s) will be appointed by the President of Sask Diving.

Final approval of successful candidates rests with the Sask Diving Board of Directors

These guidelines may be added to, changed, or amended at any time by the Sask Diving Board of Directors.
